RANA IN THE END OF SUMMER.

DIFFERENT LANDSCAPES GALLERY V. – IN THE DEPTH OF BITTERNESS.

Even in such a unique and impressive environment as the Ceske stredohori, mount Rana with its three peaks occupies an exceptional place. It is 457 m high and almost a kilometer long. As is usual here, it is an exposed relief of a volcanic body, originating from the younger Tertiary period. The mountain is basaltic rock, the so-called olivine nephelinite. The southwest peak is a national nature reserve since 1936.

The photograph has been created at the end of summer 2014, in the early evening of a clear day.
